The Messenger app allows chatbots and agents to chat with customers via Facebook Messenger. This guide outlines the steps to deploy a Messenger app. Ensure that the Facebook account you're using is the creator or admin of the Page you want to connect. This permission is required to deploy the chatbot on the Page’s Messenger account.
To begin deploying using Messenger, navigate to the Chatbots tab and click on Apps. To create a new channel, click on + Create App.
A new window will open. Select Facebook Messenger, add a name for the channel, and select the default language.
Once the new channel is created, click on the channel you just created and upload a Custom app icon. Hit save.
After, open the Connected Page tab. Click on Login with Facebook and select the Business Page you want to connect. After connecting the page, click the toggle button to enable it.
In this case, the Facebook account currently logged in does not appear to have full control of the Facebook Page you wish to connect with Proto. To proceed with the deployment, you’ll need to be assigned full control of the Page. This permission level enables full access, allowing chatbot setup and integration.
Follow the steps in the recording below to request this role assignment.
The added Facebook user should login, open the Notification, and accept the invite. Once the role is accepted, you will have full admin permissions and can manage the integration.
After completing these steps, go back to the App you have created then try to Login with Facebook again. You should now be able to find the Page you are trying to connect to Proto.
