Manage Assistants
Learn how to create and manage AI assistants.
Managing AI assistants requires the Manage AI assistants permission.
To manage AI assistants, go to the AI Assistants dashboard.
All new companies begin with a "Default Assistant" AI, which can be modified or deleted.
Switch Assistants
The dashboard displays settings for one assistant at a time.
To manage a different one:
At the top of the AI Assistants dashboard, select the current assistant dropdown.
Select the AI assistant to switch to.
Create or Import an Assistant
The number of AI assistants available depends on the subscription plan.
At the top of the AI Assistants dashboard, select the current assistant dropdown.
Select Create AI Assistant.
In the opened menu, choose between Create and Import AI Assistant and continue below.
Create AI Assistant
Set the following options:
Avatar (optional) — the AI's profile pic in messaging apps.
Name — the AI's name in messaging apps.
Default language — the default localisation language for triggers and actions.
Importing is for legacy chatbots previously exported from Proto v2 (pre-2025).
Import AI Assistant
Set the following options:
Avatar (optional) — the AI's profile pic in messaging apps.
Name — the AI's name in messaging apps.
Upload file — upload the ZIP of a previously exported Proto AI assistant, such as one from a separate company or sub-company that you wish to rebrand.
Press Create to finish creating or importing the assistant.
Settings
Configure and publish an AI assistant across the following categories, each represented by a tab.
General
In the General tab:
Avatar (optional) — the AI's profile pic in messaging apps.
Name — the AI's name in messaging apps.
Available languages — the languages used to localise applicable content in triggers and actions.
Default language — the default localisation language when opening the Actions tab.
The number of assignable languages depends on the subscription plan.
Actions
Go to Actions for scripted triggers and actions in the assistant's chat flow.
LLMs
Go to LLMs for adding a third-party, large language model to an assistant.
Publish
Go to Publishing for deploying the assistant live to messaging channels.
Delete an Assistant
Go to the Settings tab.
Select Delete and confirm.
Deleting an assistant is a permanent action and cannot be undone.
A deleted assistant's historic chat logs will persist, but the messaging channels it was published to will be rendered useless (e.g. a WhatsApp thread). Take precautions to migrate your audience to another AI assistant's channels in advance.
